Title: Roof Maxx in Baton Rouge, Louisiana: What East Baton Rouge Homeowners Need to Know Before Hurricane Season

By Acadiana Roof Restoration LLC | Scott, LA | Veteran-Owned | Roof Maxx 5-Star Dealer

Acadiana Roof Restoration serves the Baton Rouge metro area. Our Baton Rouge line is 225-385-ROOF. This article is for East Baton Rouge Parish homeowners heading into hurricane season with a roof question they have not fully answered yet.

The Baton Rouge Roof Age Reality

Baton Rouge has been through a lot of storms. Katrina in 2005 sent a massive storm surge and wind damage through the region. Ike in 2008 brought strong winds. Isaac in 2012 stalled over south Louisiana and pounded Baton Rouge for days. The 2016 flooding event did not involve wind but created widespread moisture damage in attics and roof structures across the parish. Ida in 2021 was a direct hit on the Acadiana region but caused significant wind damage across the Baton Rouge area as well.

What this means in practical terms: there is a large cohort of Baton Rouge roofs installed or replaced in the 2005 to 2013 window that are now in the 12 to 20 year range. That is exactly the treatment window where Roof Maxx can save homeowners tens of thousands of dollars by extending life rather than forcing a premature replacement.

If your roof was installed or replaced in the years following any of those events, your roof is at or approaching the critical flexibility decision point.

The 2016 Flood Rebuild Cohort

This deserves its own mention because the 2016 flooding in East Baton Rouge Parish was not primarily a wind or roof event, but a significant number of homes in flood-affected areas were sold and had roofs replaced as part of the rebuilding and resale process in 2016 and 2017.

Those roofs are now in the 8 to 10 year range. That is the early end of the treatment window in our climate, but it is also when a professional inspection makes the most sense, because catching the beginning of oil depletion before it becomes brittleness is exactly when Roof Maxx is most cost-effective.

If you are in a home that was sold or renovated post-2016 flooding and the roof was part of that work, now is the time to have it assessed.

What Baton Rouge Homeowners Face That Is Unique

Baton Rouge sits further inland than Lafayette or coastal parishes, but it is not outside the primary impact zone for major Gulf storms. Ida, which made landfall near Port Fourchon, generated wind damage well into East Baton Rouge Parish. A storm that makes landfall anywhere on the central Louisiana coast can bring 60 to 80 mph sustained winds to Baton Rouge.

That is significant because 60 to 80 mph sustained wind is exactly the range where brittle shingles fail and flexible shingles hold. The margin between a roof that needs emergency repairs the day after a storm and a roof that holds is often just the question of whether the shingles had their flexibility maintained.

Baton Rouge homeowners are not immune to the storm risk that coastal parishes face. They just face it a little less frequently. When it comes, the roof performance question is the same.

The Roof Maxx Process in Baton Rouge

We travel to the Baton Rouge metro regularly for both inspections and treatments. The process is identical to what we do in Acadiana.

Inspection first. We walk the roof before we make any recommendation. If it qualifies for Roof Maxx, we give you the exact price and schedule. If it does not qualify, we tell you why and what the right path is instead. One day treatment. No tear-off. Transferable 5-year warranty.

For Baton Rouge homeowners whose roofs are at end of life, we also perform full FORTIFIED re-roofs. We are LFHP approved, which means we can help you navigate the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program grant application for qualifying homeowners.
